Went to the 2nd Annual 45 Shootout - Los Angeles last night, so this was my 2nd time going as well and the first with my girlfriend. I remember last years event where 4 sound systems battled it out on the turntables. Trying to top each others selections with better cuts and styles. They all used vinyl to play the music and that's the proper way if you ask me...this year. There was only one sound system that even used vinyl, the other had sound systems running on cd mixers and shit. WHAT!?

Wasn't it supposed to be a 45 shootout? (educate yourself) Or does that even count anymore, shit why even call it a 45 anything then. Just say DJ battle instead maybe? Anyhow, yeah so there I was in Inglewood at right before this years buying a drink at the bar when the bartender goes, "do you have another 20?...this one isn't registering." what is that supposed to mean? Like the machine didn't recognize it so it must be like counterfeit? Trip, guess I got money from a bunk ATM.

To make a long story short...
The traditional vinylist duo (BLACKGOLD, Japanese dudes) got eliminated in the 1st round to the modern cd mixers...bummer. Blackgold threw it down proper and in tradition of proper DJ's mixing with records...not pushing buttons. Come on... KrossFayah Sound System took home the trophy and bragging rights this year, he did have the dubplates in the final round that took out Fyness in a song per song battle.

I don't know if you've ever been to one of these things or not but you should...better than sitting at some bar staring at you beer bottle label and asking your buddies where the girls at.
